Spiky Hedgehogs

Here is a porquois story of why hedgehogs are so spiky. Animals have a way of protecting themselves in the wild. They must survive on their own without any help. Read this story to learn how hedgehogs got their spikes.

Far back in the land of Tinga Tinga there was a porcupine named Moonlight. She had a thin, soft layer of fur. It was so comfortable that it was like having a blanket on you. On a cozy night she had a party, and everybody wanted to pet her.

After a while she was getting tired of being pet so she stopped the party, because you never know when someone says that they want to pet you, and instead they might eat you. So, she decided to run into the prickly bush when nobody was looking and tried to get thorns all over her layer of fur so none of the other animals could pet her or attack her.

And that is the reason behind the spikes on a hedgehog! Do you know any other animals that have such cool defense mechanisms? If so, drop me a comment below.
